Welcome to NLCC COMPASS ROSE Website!
FOR YOUTH AGES 9-12
Since 1948, the Navy League Cadet program has introduced young Canadians to a nautical life.
Navy League Cadets get to do a lot of fun, interesting activities, in an environment that emphasises teamwork. The Navy League Cadet Program is a great place to make friends and do things you wouldn't get to do anywhere else.
The Navy League Cadet program welcomes boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 12. Cadets come from many different backgrounds to share a common interest.
HOW OFTEN DO NAVY LEAGUE CADETS MEET?
Most corps (pronounced “core” — that’s what we call each group) meet one evening each week from September to June. Some corps host occasional weekend activities or trips, as well.
IS IT A MILITARY PROGRAM?
No. The Navy League of Canada is a civilian organization. Our cadet program uses a naval theme as a platform to develop good citizenship, leadership, a sense of duty, self-discipline, teamwork, healthy living and respect for others.
HOW MUCH DOES THE PROGRAM COST?
Almost all corps activities are free, though some charge a small administration fee. To help fund Navy League programs and cover the costs of uniforms, cadets and their parents are required to participate in fundraising activities.
DO CADETS HAVE TO BUY UNIFORMS?
No. Cadet uniforms are provided by The Navy League of Canada. Cadets are required to maintain their uniforms and return them when they leave the program.
